The Strangers with Us is a clean, dark fantasy series set in a universe where politics, religion, and deception are synonymous. The first installment of the series, “A Slow Dance from Afar,” revolves around 17-year-old Maxwell Hartwrong and 18-year-old Sarah Dwindleman. They were once inseparable childhood companions but now are in two different parts of the United States, battling the same struggles in life—a long-distance relationship and an identity crisis— all while attempting to coexist in the mysterious world of the “Christian” church. Amid unusual human drama, Max and Sarah get caught between the crosshairs of a war they didn’t sign up for and the burning zeal of mysterious religious groups. After past traumas in both of their lives, their priority isn’t to fight; it’s to search for love. However, will their search ultimately lead them to happiness … or destruction?
