What Each Service Includes:

Developmental Editing

Developmental editing is more in-depth, thorough, and time consuming as it is a process that examines your manuscript and looks for issues with story flow/pacing, character development, and dialogue. I will not only point out issues but offer solutions while respecting your story and your vision without interfering with your voice. I offer free pre-edit consultations to get a better idea of your goal and vision and see if we would be a good fit. I offer free post-edit consultations to answer any additional questions after the edit. You will receive an editorial letter detailing strengths, weaknesses, a plot and character analysis, and solutions to any issues. (Estimated delivery time- Typically 4-8 weeks depending on the size of the manuscript)

Line Editing

Line Editing focuses on addressing issues with the style and tone of your story. You will get an editorial letter addressing any stylistic issues, with solutions to those issues. (Estimated delivery time- Typically 4-8 weeks depending on the size of the manuscript)

Copy Editing

Copy editing should be undergone when you are confident that your story arc, character development, and everything else that involves developmental editing is to your liking. Typically, copy editing should be pursued after developmental editing. This phase of editing focuses on grammar, proofreading, time period consistencies and inconsistencies, such as making sure the language and description match the time your story takes place. This type of editing primarily focuses more on the mechanical aspects while developmental is a bigger picture focus, and line editing focuses more on consistency with writing tone and style. (Estimated delivery time- Typically 4-8 weeks depending on the size of the manuscript)

Proofreading

Proofreading isn’t as extensive as line and copy editing but focuses on correcting grammatical errors and basic structure and formatting issues. Typically, this is the final stage you should undergo before publishing. (Estimated delivery time- Typically 1-2 weeks depending on the size of the manuscript)

Blurb Writing Service

I will help you craft a compelling blurb for your novel. The word count would vary depending on the story but typically would be anywhere from 150 to 250 words. (Estimated delivery time: 1-3 days)

Upfront disclosures:

I use The Chicago Manual of Style as my reference guide

I am only taking fiction manuscripts at the moment.

If your manuscript falls in the genre of:

Fantasy Fiction, Epic Fantasy, High Fantasy, or Political Novels then please feel free to see if I’m available.

Unfortunately, I’m not taking any other genres at this time.

Also, if you haven’t read the Loner Guy section, I will again reiterate; I will not take any manuscripts with explicit language or sex scenes.

After the consultation, I will edit five pages of your manuscript as a sample, free of charge!

From there you can determine if you want to move forward with my services or not.
